2.4 SOURCE v1.6

SOURCE v1.6.9

1 November 2022

New features:

  • Channel mapping indicator. A channel mapping indicator is added to entries in the Data card, allowing to quickly review whether all channels have been properly mapped.
  • Duplicate graphs. Graphs can be duplicated using a plus button on the top right.

Fixes:

  • Upgrades were made to address crashes experienced on latest versions of MS Windows 11.
  • An issue was resolved that led to curves in graphs not showing at first instance.
  • A bug with plotting operational consistency was resolved.
  • Several small fixes to reading of ATFX files.
  • Several small fixes to the UI.

SOURCE v1.6.8

30 September 2022

New features:

  • Principal Component Analysis. The in-situ analysis now has the ability to perform a Principal Component Analysis (PCA). This can be applied on either the indicator response spectra (i.e. before the matrix inversion), or on the resulting characterized Blocked Forces (after the matrix inversion). When selected, a Singular Value Decomposition will be calculated from any of the two spectra. Principal components are then built from the left singular vectors and their associated singular values. This results in spectra which have Principal Components (PCs) as columns, instead of the time blocks of the original data.

Other changes & fixes:

  • When plotting spectra, averaging has been slightly adjusted. Mean is now calculated from the complex spectra, whereas Abs.Mean draws it from the absolute magnitudes. A Sum method was also introduced. Note that the default spectral averaging has now been changed to Abs.Mean, to result in the same graphs as before.
  • Strip plots have been improved for order cut datasets.
  • Some ATFX support has been extended, for instance to better support order spectra and order cuts exported by HEAD Acoustics, as well as basic exports from Bruel&Kjaer.

SOURCE v1.6.7

22 August 2022

New features:

  • Export of graph pages. A new feature was introduced that allows to export entire pages with graphs to bitmap or vector graphics formats, including JPG, PNG and PDF. In addition, you can copy the content of the page to the clipboard. This feature will continue to be developed upon in future releases, including the possibility to specify fixed size and aspect ratio.

Fixes:

  • Several issues were resolved that occurred when plotting order cut datasets in strips.
  • The display state of legends in graphs is now correctly preserved and restored from loaded projects.

SOURCE v1.6.6

8 July 2022

New features:

  • 3D Viewer face elements. In addition to nodes and line elements, one can now also create triangular face elements in the 3D viewer. These are added by selecting 3 nodes and pressing the ‘F’ key. Note that due to internal restructuring, any previously generated line elements are discarded from older projects and should be recreated manually when desired.
  • Several bug fixes and stability improvements, mostly on 2D graphing features.

SOURCE v1.6.5

17 June 2022

New features:

  • When showing ODS animations of a dataset in Operational Data, one can now navigate the active block and frequency selection from a 2D graph that uses that same dataset:
    • For Waterfall plots, one can click anywhere in the area to set the current block and frequency point.
    • For other 2D plots with a frequency axis, a vertical bar will appear when ODS animation is active.  This can be dragged left/right to set the active frequency point.

Changes & fixes:

  • Small UI improvements have been made.
  • When clicking on close to exit SOURCE, the user now gets prompted to confirm.
  • Minor bug fixes.

SOURCE v1.6.4

8 June 2022

This release brings some new functionality to the 1.6 version, as well as resolving some smaller issues.

New features:

  • For exporting data to ATFX, MAT or UFF, one has the option to export all-in-one files, or export every dataset to a separate file. The name and path of these files can be fully parameterized using tokens. Slashes can be used to create a nested folder structure. Settings are found in the Preferences page.
  • SOURCE allows to expand and collapse groups of data with the CTRL+left/right keys. The state of every entry being expanded or collapsed is saved in the project.
  • It is now easier to work with Virtual Point channels. Channels created from a DIRAC project already get their VP channels assigned properly. Channels in the Analyze – Inputs – Channels card can now also be filtered on VP state.

Changes & fixes:

  • The formatting of UFF exports has been improved, specifically for order cut data.
  • SOURCE prompts the user for confirmation when trying to close the application.
  • The src-order and src-uff licenses are now correctly implemented.
  • Repositories are now also used for 3D geometries. If not found, the user can relocate just like with any other dataset.
  • The performance of the channel card was greatly improved, which will be evident when working with hundreds of channels.
  • An improvement was made to the stability of project saving on network or shared drives.
  • Some results and dataset types of direct force and in-situ analyses are now correctly distinguished.
  • An issue was resolved for ATFX import of time series with multiple sampling rates/groups, that resulted in some channels being omitted.
  • Export of blocked forces to MAT files has been improved, specifically in case of Virtual Point channels.

SOURCE v1.6

11 April 2022

This release of SOURCE is the last release in the 1.x series. It serves as a prequel or Beta to SOURCE v2.0 coming in May 2022. All feedback received on the features mentioned below will contribute to a further improved SOURCE v2.0.

Renewed 2D Graphing environment
The graphing experience in Analyze has been completely renewed. You now have the ability to manipulate pages, the layout of various axes in a customizable grid, and the information you wish to view. This comes with the ability to save pages and layouts in the SOURCE project file, such that these are restored when reloading a project. Some features in short:

  • SOURCE is capable of re-calculating analyses on demand, namely by asking for a refresh of loaded graph axes.
  • One can create a simple uniform grid layout by simple drag-drop of source and analyzed datasets using the added visual cues, or by dragging the existing graph panels around with the mouse.
  • Alternatively, one may adjust the grid rows and columns using a “layout mode”, such as changing the relative sizes or adding rows and columns for use in a later stage.

While this mechanism is all-new, you may need some practice to explore the capabilities. An instructional video will be put on the VIBES Academy.

3D Viewer for Operational Deflection Shape animation
An additional 3D Viewer card was added to the Operational Data module. This requires the “src-ods” license.

The 3D Viewer allows displaying Operational Deflection Shapes (ODS) of operational datasets. It shows nodes and line elements and can display geometries when loaded from a DIRAC file.

  • In order to get started, one first loads a DIRAC project to select and import the contained geometries, but also to create master channels containing accurate position and direction information.
  • Operational data needs to be mapped to these master channels in order to be used for ODS animation.
  • Dragging an operational dataset into the 3D Viewer will result in displaying the content. Nodes are shown for the active collection of channels, while line elements can be added by the user for clear visualization.

Controls for selection and navigation will be further improved towards SOURCE 2.0.

VP Transformation on direct blocked force measurements
This feature uses the new possibilities for managing Virtual Points, VP channels, and the option to mark imported channels as VP channels. The Direct Blocked Force analysis will now calculate a VP transformation on measured force channels if they are grouped to VPs and the associated VP channels are used in the analysis. For assistance in getting started with this feature, please reach out to support@vibestechnology.com.

Strip plots for order cuts
In addition to showing order cuts over time, RPM and frequency, one now also has the possibility of creating strip plots that show all channels along the vertical axis.

Other changes:

  • Project loading progress: when loading a SOURCE project, you will now be able to monitor the progress in a window and cancel when needed.
  • Improved Token control in the plot and axes legends: the control that shows tokens when hitting “{“ now shows previews of the token values and has an improved experience. You can now also set a default legend template in Preferences.
  • Edit list entry names on double-click F2: When working with datasets, the name is not automatically editable anymore. To edit, double-click with the mouse, press F2 or hit Enter.
  • General performance and stability fixes.
