7.1 Operational Deflection Shapes (ODS)

3D Viewer and Operational Deflection Shapes

Showing geometries in the 3D Viewer

In the 3D Viewer card, you can visualize imported geometries (see how to import geometries here). To access the 3D Viewer card in the Operational Data module, you need the src-ods license.

To visualize geometries you have to:

  1. Import a DIRAC project, including geometries.
  2. Go to the 3D Viewer card.

Displaying Operational Deflection Shapes

You can display Operational Deflection Shapes of your operational data in the 3D Viewer. To access the 3D Viewer card in the Operational Data module, you need the src-ods license.

To animate the Operational Deflection Shapes you must complete these steps:

  1. Map the channels to the Master channels.
  2. Drag and drop the desired operational dataset in the 3D Viewer.
  3. Press play.

Displaying Operational Deflection Shapes

SOURCE will only animate operational channels that are set as Masters.

Controlling Operational Deflection Shapes’ settings

When animating Operational Deflection Shapes, you can change the following settings in the taskbar:

  1. Amplitude
  2. Block
  3. Frequency

Controlling Operational Deflection Shapes’ settings

You can control the settings using keyboard shortcuts:

  • Amplitude: CTRL + +/
  • Block: CTRL + up/down arrow
  • Frequency: CTRL + left/right arrow

For 10 units increment or reduction, use the shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + key.

Creating meshes

You can create a mesh between nodes to visualize the Operational Deflection Shapes better. The mesh is formed by lines that connect the nodes.

To create the meshes, you have to complete the next steps:

  1. Display an ODS.
  2. Select the nodes you want to link in the Nodes tab of the 3D Viewer.
  3. Type E.

Creating meshes

You can edit the lines’ color in the Lines tab.

Creating face elements

You can create triangular face elements connecting 3 nodes.

To create face elements, complete the next steps:

  1. Display an ODS.
  2. Select the 3 nodes you want to link in the Nodes tab of the 3D Viewer.
  3. Type F.

You can edit the faces’ color in the Faces tab.
