9.2 Performing Model Validation

To perform model validation, you first need to:

  1. Import reference model(s) (outlined in the Prepare module).
  2. Perform EMA (outlined in the Experimental Modal Analysis module).

Correlation Matrix

You then move to the Validate module, and complete the following steps:

  1. In the Experimental Modes card, select the desired EMA preset, and press
  2. In the Reference Modes card, select the corresponding reference model.

In the Correlation Matrix card, you will visualize the correlation between two mode shapes, the experimental and numerical ones.

DIRAC uses Modal Assurance Criterion to compute correlation between models.

Visualizing mode shapes

After computing all mode shapes, you can visualize and compare them in the 3D Viewer.

To visualize mode shapes, complete the next steps:

  1. Select the desired modes (in the lists or clicking on the desired cell in the MAC matrix).
  2. Click the Play button in the 3D Viewer.
