3.1 Accessing the VIBES License Manager

License Spring environment

From 2026 VIBES is transitioning to a new licensing system, based on License Spring platform. Here, each license is unlocked by a unique 16-character alphanumeric key, such as 1234-ABCD-5678-EFGH. Each license contains a predefined bundle of modules (features).

Managing licenses is done through the VIBES License Settings tool, which can be accessed from DIRAC, SOURCE and COUPLE.

You have to access the VIBES License Settings tool when you want to:

• Activate and deactivate licenses.
• Switch licenses.
• Borrow licenses.

Flexera environment

To work with VIBES software, it is necessary to have one or more licenses. You can use floating licenses (read more here) or fixed licenses (read more here). All licenses are handled by the VIBES License Manager.

You have to access the VIBES License Manager when you want to:

• Visualize the licenses present on the server and their availability.
• Visualize the licenses available in the current session.
• Visualize the licenses expiration date.
• Check the server status.
• Access the license server settings.
• Acquire/return floating licenses for/from the current session.
• Request a fixed license.
• Load a fixed license.

Accessing the licenses

In DIRAC

To access the VIBES License Manager in DIRAC, complete the next steps:

1. Click the symbol at the top right corner of the working page. A menu will appear.
2. Click About… A new window will open.
3. Click Start licensing manager.

In SOURCE

To access the VIBES License Manager in SOURCE, complete the next steps:

1. Click at the top left corner of the working page.
2. Click License Manager at the bottom left of the page.

In COUPLE

To access the VIBES License Manager in COUPLE, complete the next steps:

1. Click Home in the top bar.
2. Click License Manager at the bottom left of the page.

In the VTM

To access the VIBES License Manager in the VTM, complete the next steps:

1. Enter vibes.ver in the command line.
2. Select Manage.
