Meet Mathias Kohrmann, our new Project Engineer in Munich

20 September 2021

At the beginning of this month, Mathias joined VIBES as Senior Project Engineer R&D. Below he will introduce himself.

About me

Hi, my name is Mathias. I’m 37 years old and live in Munich. I like to travel – mostly to places where I can surf, kite, or go snowboarding.

About my background

I studied civil engineering at TU Munich with a large focus on structural dynamics and acoustics. After that I worked as researcher and PhD candidate at TU Munich and HS Rosenheim in the field of building acoustics.

I did research on numerical models for the vibroacoustic assessment of timber floors and applied the reception plate method for building equipment noise source characterization.

After finishing my PhD I moved to Switzerland and worked a few years as a project manager for structure-borne sound insulation. Until last month I was head of the institute for environmental protection and building physics at Obermeyer Groupe, where we mainly focused on traffic noise and train induced vibrations of large infrastructure projects.

What brought me to VIBES?

In March I was scrolling through LinkedIn and a video caught my attention. It was Julie from VIBES and she explained the DIRAC Software. I thought: “Wow, I wish I had this during my time as a researcher. They do cool stuff. I want to be part of that.”

They were hiring, I applied and quit my job 😉

My role at VIBES

I will mainly work as a Project Engineer but will also support sales in a kind of a pre-sales role. We will see…
