Transfer Path Analysis

With Transfer Path Analysis (TPA), engineers evaluate the noise from various sources, which propagates to the receiver (typically the driver or passengers in the automotive industry) through various transfer paths.

Explore Transfer Path Analysis

Transfer Path Analysis allows for evaluating noise from various sources as it propagates to the receiver through different transfer paths. By utilizing Component TPA, you can independently analyze and isolate noise and vibration issues of individual components, enabling early design optimization and the reuse of data across different configurations. Furthermore, looking at complex power alongside (blocked) forces and transfer functions provides a detailed view of how vibrations propagate and dissipate. The following workflows and software unlock the full potential of this solution.

Component TPA

Component Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) allows for independent analysis of individual components, helping to isolate noise and vibration issues more effectively. It provides valuable insights for optimizing component designs early in development without needing a full system physical model. Data from component-level analysis can be reused across different configurations, reducing testing time and costs. Additionally, component TPA enhances collaboration between OEMs and suppliers by enabling focused component optimization while ensuring the overall system meets NVH targets.

Complex Power

Insights into vibration propagation are gained from looking at different “views” of the same problem. Such as: (blocked) forces, partial contributions and transfer functions. Complex power adds an additional view to how vibrations propagate and dissipate. We draw inspiration from business analytic tools to create innovative drill-down views on NVH propagation data, such as Sankey and Bar diagrams.
