Meet Philipp Bofinger, our new Project Engineer

04 June 2021

Since the first of June 2021 Philipp strengthens the VIBES team as a Project Engineer R&D. Below, he provides information about himself and his tasks at VIBES.

About me

Hi, my name is Philipp Bofinger. I’m 27 years old, originally from Berlin, and grew up in the Munich area. In my free time I love to mountain bike, sail, travel and play billiards.

What is your background and education?

I completed a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science at the Technical University of Munich. This bilingual study program included a broad basic scientific education in the classical fields of engineering. During this time, I gained practical experience as a full-time intern and working student at MAN Truck & Bus, where I discovered my passion for numerical simulation.

For this reason, I decided to study for a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich. In my studies I was able to gain experience in structural mechanics and nonlinear finite element simulations and deepened this knowledge as a tutor when I supervised and evaluated 50 students in the university internship for FEM simulations. I also wrote several scientific papers on the implementation of numerical methods in C++ into a parallel multi-physics research code.

What do you do at VIBES?

At VIBES, I work as a project engineer in the Munich office. With my experience in numerical simulation and my programming skills, I hope to bring VIBES ahead and look forward to solving challenging NVH problems.
