My name is Arash Khatami. I was born in 1980 and I live near Amsterdam. In my spare time, I like to make drawings, go travelling, play video games and geek out in front of my PC.
I studied Applied Physics at the University of Twente. Since I was more interested in fundamental physics, I continued my studies at the University of Amsterdam where I graduated in the field of Theoretical Physics.
After my graduation I’ve had rather different jobs; from production management in the food industry to R&D in aerospace to graphics software developer for TV shows. The last couple of years I’ve been working as a freelance software engineer, helping clients finish their products.
My latest role is, of course, at VIBES where I’m working as Senior Software Engineer R&D on a permanent basis.
Currently, I’m working on the new product, called SOURCE, which takes the data from DIRAC for further analysis. As the Senior Software Engineer R&D, it’s my job to enhance the user experience and robustness of this product. I’m looking forward to using my knowledge as a physicist as well as my skills as a software developer to innovate and improve VIBES products.
From all the roles that I’ve had in my career, there hasn’t been one that ticked so many marks with my interests and skills as does VIBES. I feel like my technical background as well as my programming skills are a great match with what we’re doing here. Also there are ample learning opportunities which is invaluable for me. Last but not least, I get to work with a great team of fun people who’re serious about what they’re doing.
